The men of the city said to Elisha, "Look, our lord, this town is well situated, as you can see, but the water is bad and the land is unproductive." 20 엘리사가 이르되 새 그릇에 소금을 담아 내게로 가져오라 하매 곧 가져온지라 "Bring me a new bowl," he said, "and put salt in it." So they brought it to him. Then he went out to the spring and threw the salt into it, saying, "This is what the LORD says: 'I have healed this water. Never again will it cause death or make the land unproductive.' And the water has remained wholesome to this day, according to the word Elisha had spoken.

Then Joshua son of Nun secretly sent two spies from Shittim. "Go, look over the land, "he said, "especially Jericho." So they went and entered the house of a prostitute named Rahab and stayed there. The king of Jericho was told, "Look! Some of the Israelites have come here tonight to spy out the land." 3 여리고 왕이 라합에게 사람을 보내어 이르되 네게로 와서 네 집에 들어간 그 사람들을 끌어내라 그들은 이 온 땅을 정탐하러 왔느니라 So the king of Jericho sent this message to Rahab: "Bring out the men who came to you and entered your house, because they have come to spy out the whole land." 4 그 여인이 그 두 사람을 이미 숨긴지라 이르되 과연 그 사람들이 내게 왔었으나 그들이 어디에서 왔는지 나는 알지 못하였고 But the woman had taken the two men and hidden them. She said, "Yes, the men came to me, but I did not know where they had come from. At dusk, when it was time to close the city gate, the men left. I don't know which way they went. Go after them quickly. You may catch up with them." 6 그가 이미 그들을 이끌고 지붕에 올라가서 그 지붕에 벌여 놓은 삼대에 숨겼더라 (But she had taken them up to the roof and hidden them under the stalks of flax she had laid out on the roof.) So the men set out in pursuit of the spies on the road that leads to the fords of the Jordan, and as soon as the pursuers had gone out, the gate was shut. Before the spies lay down for the night, she went up on the roof 9 말하되 여호와께서 이 땅을 너희에게 주신 줄을 내가 아노라 우리가 너희를 심히 두려워하고 이 땅 주민들이 다 너희 앞에서 간담이 녹나니 and said to them, "I know that the LORD has given this land to you and that a great fear of you has fallen on us, so that all who live in this country are melting in fear because of you.

When Abram heard that his relative had been taken captive, he called out the 318 trained men born in his household and went in pursuit as far as Dan. During the night Abram divided his men to attack them and he routed them, pursuing them as far as Hobah, north of Damascus. He recovered all the goods and brought back his relative Lot and his possessions, together with the women and the other people. After Abram returned from defeating Kedorlaomer and the kings allied with him, the king of Sodom came out to meet him in the Valley of Shaveh (that is, the King's Valley). Then Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine. He was priest of God Most High, 19 그가 아브람에게 축복하여 이르되 천지의 주재이시요 지극히 높으신 하나님이여 아브람에게 복을 주옵소서 and he blessed Abram, saying, "Blessed be Abram by God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth. And blessed be God Most High, who delivered your enemies into your hand." Then Abram gave him a tenth of everything. The king of Sodom said to Abram, "Give me the people and keep the goods for yourself." 22 아브람이 소돔 왕에게 이르되 천지의 주재이시요 지극히 높으신 하나님 여호와께 내가 손을 들어 맹세하노니 But Abram said to the king of Sodom, "I have raised my hand to the LORD, God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth, and have taken an oath 23 네 말이 내가 아브람으로 치부하게 하였다 할까 하여 네게 속한 것은 실 한 오라기나 들메끈 한 가닥도 내가 가지지 아니하리라 that I will accept nothing belonging to you, not even a thread or the thong of a sandal, so that you will never be able to say, 'I made Abram rich.' 24 오직 젊은이들이 먹은 것과 나와 동행한 아넬과 에스골과 마므레의 분깃을 제할지니 그들이 그 분깃을 가질 것이니라 I will accept nothing but what my men have eaten and the share that belongs to the men who went with me-to Aner, Eshcol and Mamre. Let them have their share." 14 나와 내 백성이 무엇이기에 이처럼 즐거운 마음으로 드릴 힘이 있었나이까 모든 것이 주께로 말미암았사오니 우리가 주의 손에서 받은 것으로 주께 드렸을 뿐이니이다 "But who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to give as generously as this? Everything comes from you, and we have given you only what comes from your hand. |
