1 믿음은 바라는 것들의 실상이요 보지 못하는 것들의 증거니 Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. 2 선진들이 이로써 증거를 얻었느니라 This is what the ancients were commended for.

1 만일 땅에 있는 우리의 장막집이 무너지면 하나님께서 지으신 집 곧 손으로 지은 것이 아니요 하늘에 있는 영원한 집이 우리에게 있는 줄 아나니 Now we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands. 2 과연 우리가 여기 있어 탄식하며 하늘로부터 오는 우리 처소로 덧입기를 간절히 사모하노니 Meanwhile we groan, longing to be clothed with our heavenly dwelling,

1 내가 오늘날 명하는 모든 명령을 너희는 지켜 행하라 그리하면 너희가 살고 번성하고 여호와께서 너희의 열조에게 맹세하신 땅에 들어가서 그것을 얻으리라 Be careful to follow every command I am giving you today, so that you may live and increase and may enter and possess the land that the LORD promised on oath to your forefathers. 2 네 하나님 여호와께서 이 사십 년 동안에 너로 광야의 길을 걷게 하신 것을 기억하라 이는 너를 낮추시며 너를 시험하사 네 마음이 어떠한지 그 명령을 지키는지 아니 지키는지 알려 하심이라 Remember how the LORD your God led you all the way in the desert these forty years, to humble you and to test you in order to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep his commands. 3 너를 낮추시며 너로 주리게 하시며 또 너도 알지 못하며 네 열조도 알지 못하던 만나를 네게 먹이신 것은 사람이 떡으로만 사는 것이 아니요 여호와의 입에서 나오는 모든 말씀으로 사는 줄을 너로 알게 하려 하심이니라 He humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna, which neither you nor your fathers had known, to teach you that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the LORD.

1 [다윗의 시, 영장으로 한 노래] 여호와여 주께서 나를 감찰하시고 아셨나이다 For the director of music. Of David. A psalm. O LORD, you have searched me and you know me. 2 주께서 나의 앉고 일어섬을 아시며 멀리서도 나의 생각을 통촉하시오며 You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. 3 나의 길과 눕는 것을 감찰하시며 나의 모든 행위를 익히 아시오니 You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. 4 여호와여 내 혀의 말을 알지 못하시는 것이 하나도 없으시니이다 Before a word is on my tongue you know it completely, O LORD. 5 주께서 나의 전후를 두르시며 내게 안수하셨나이다 You hem me in--behind and before; you have laid your hand upon me. 6 이 지식이 내게 너무 기이하니 높아서 내가 능히 미치지 못하나이다 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain. 7 내가 주의 신을 떠나 어디로 가며? 주의 앞에서 어디로 피하리이까? Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence?

19 하나님은 인생이 아니시니 식언치 않으시고 인자가 아니시니 후회가 없으시도다 어찌 그 말씀하신 바를 행치 않으시며 하신 말씀을 실행치 않으시랴 God is not a man, that he should lie, nor a son of man, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?

1 예레미야가 아직 시위대 뜰에 갇혔을 때에 여호와의 말씀이 그에게 두 번째 임하니라 가라사대 While Jeremiah was still confined in the courtyard of the guard, the word of the LORD came to him a second time: 2 일을 행하는 여호와, 그것을 만들며 성취하는 여호와, 그 이름을 여호와라 하는 자가 이같이 이르노라 "This is what the LORD says, he who made the earth, the LORD who formed it and established it--the LORD is his name: 3 너는 내게 부르짖으라 내가 네게 응답하겠고 네가 알지 못하는 크고 비밀한 일을 네게 보이리라 'Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.'

8 네가 눈으로 본 것을 조급하게 법정에 알리지 마라. 나중에 네 이웃이 너를 망신시키면, 어떻게 할 것이냐? do not bring hastily to court, for what will you do in the end if your neighbor puts you to shame? 9 너는 이웃과 다툴 때, 남의 비밀을 말하지 마라. If you argue your case with a neighbor, do not betray another man's confidence, 10 그것을 듣는 자가 너를 망신시킬 것이요, 나쁜 평판이 너를 계속 따라다닐 것이다. or he who hears it may shame you and you will never lose your bad reputation. 11 경우에 합당한 말은 아로새긴 은쟁반에 금사과니라 A word aptly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver. 12 슬기로운 자의 책망은 청종하는 귀에 금고리와 정금 장식이니라 Like an earring of gold or an ornament of fine gold is a wise man's rebuke to a listening ear. 13 충성된 사자는 그를 보낸 이에게 마치 추수하는 날에 얼음 냉수 같아서 능히 그 주인의 마음을 시원케 하느니라 Like the coolness of snow at harvest time is a trustworthy messenger to those who send him; he refreshes the spirit of his masters.

1 아담이 그 아내 하와와 동침하매 하와가 잉태하여 가인을 낳고 이르되 내가 여호와로 말미암아 득남하였다 하니라 Adam lay with his wife Eve, and she became pregnant and gave birth to Cain. She said, "With the help of the LORD I have brought forth a man." 2 그가 또 가인의 아우 아벨을 낳았는데 아벨은 양 치는 자이었고 가인은 농사하는 자이었더라 Later she gave birth to his brother Abel. Now Abel kept flocks, and Cain worked the soil. 3 세월이 지난 후에 가인은 땅의 소산으로 제물을 삼아 여호와께 드렸고 In the course of time Cain brought some of the fruits of the soil as an offering to the LORD. 4 아벨은 자기도 양의 첫 새끼와 그 기름으로 드렸더니 여호와께서 아벨과 그 제물은 열납하셨으나 But Abel brought fat portions from some of the firstborn of his flock. The LORD looked with favor on Abel and his offering, 5 가인과 그 제물은 열납하지 아니하신지라 가인은 너무 화가 나서 얼굴빛이 달라졌다. but on Cain and his offering he did not look with favor. So Cain was very angry, and his face was downcast. 6 여호와께서 가인에게 이르시되 “너는 왜 그렇게 화를 내느냐? 어째서 네 얼굴빛이 달라졌느냐? Then the LORD said to Cain, "Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast? 7 네 행실이 바르다면, 왜 받아들여지지 않았겠느냐? 네가 바르게 행하지 않으면, 죄가 문 앞에 도사리고 있을 것이다. 죄가 너를 지배하려 하니 너는 죄를 다스려야 한다.” If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must master it." 8 가인이 동생 아벨에게 말했다. “우리 함께 들판으로 나가자.” 두 사람이 함께 들판에 있게 되자, 가인이 아벨에게 달려들어 그를 쳐 죽였다. Now Cain said to his brother Abel, "Let's go out to the field." And while they were in the field, Cain attacked his brother Abel and killed him. 9 여호와께서 가인에게 '네 동생 아벨이 어디 있느냐 ?' 하고 물으시자 가인이 '나는 모릅니다. 내가 동생을 지키는 자입니까 ?' 하고 대답하였다. Then the LORD said to Cain, "Where is your brother Abel?" "I don't know," he replied. "Am I my brother's keeper?"

10 에스더가 하닥에게 이르되 너는 모르드개에게 고하기를 Then she instructed him to say to Mordecai, 11 왕의 신복과 왕의 각 도 백성이 다 알거니와 무론 남녀하고 부름을 받지 아니하고 안뜰에 들어가서 왕에게 나아가면 오직 죽이는 법이요 왕이 그 자에게 금홀을 내어 밀어야 살 것이라 이제 내가 부름을 입어 왕에게 나아가지 못한지가 이미 삼십 일이라 하라 "All the king's officials and the people of the royal provinces know that for any man or woman who approaches the king in the inner court without being summoned the king has but one law: that he be put to death. The only exception to this is for the king to extend the gold scepter to him and spare his life. But thirty days have passed since I was called to go to the king." 12 그가 에스더의 말로 모르드개에게 고하매 When Esther's words were reported to Mordecai, 13 모르드개가 그를 시켜 에스더에게 회답하되 너는 왕궁에 있으니 모든 유다인 중에 홀로 면하리라 생각지 말라 he sent back this answer: "Do not think that because you are in the king's house you alone of all the Jews will escape. 14 이 때에 네가 만일 잠잠하여 말이 없으면 유다인은 다른 데로 말미암아 놓임과 구원을 얻으려니와 너와 네 아비 집은 멸망하리라 네가 왕후의 위를 얻은 것이 이 때를 위함이 아닌지 누가 아느냐 For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father's family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to royal position for such a time as this?" 15 에스더가 명하여 모르드개에게 회답하되 Then Esther sent this reply to Mordecai: 16 당신은 가서 수산에 있는 유다인을 다 모으고 나를 위하여 금식하되 밤낮 삼 일을 먹지도 말고 마시지도 마소서 나도 나의 시녀로 더불어 이렇게 금식한 후에 규례를 어기고 왕에게 나아가리니 죽으면 죽으리이다 "Go, gather together all the Jews who are in Susa, and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my maids will fast as you do. When this is done, I will go to the king, even though it is against the law. And if I perish, I perish." 17 모르드개가 가서 에스더의 명한 대로 다 행하니라 So Mordecai went away and carried out all of Esther's instructions.

3 웃시야가 위에 나아갈 때에 나이 십육 세라 예루살렘에서 오십이 년을 치리하니라 그 모친의 이름은 여골리아라 예루살렘 사람이더라. Uzziah was sixteen years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem fifty-two years. His mother's name was Jecoliah; she was from Jerusalem. 4 웃시야가 그 부친 아마샤의 모든 행위대로 여호와 보시기에 정직히 행하며 He did what was right in the eyes of the LORD, just as his father Amaziah had done. 5 (하나님의 묵시를 밝히 아는 스가랴의 사는 날에) 하나님을 구하였고 저가 여호와를 구할 동안에는 하나님이 형통케 하셨더라. (우리말 Version) 그는 (하나님을 두려워하도록 가르쳐 준 스가랴가 살아 있는 동안) 하나님을 구했습니다. 웃시야가 여호와를 찾는 동안은 하나님께서 그가 하는 일을 잘되게 해 주셨습니다. He sought God (during the days of Zechariah, who instructed him in the fear of God.) As long as he sought the LORD, God gave him success.

33유다 왕 아사 제삼년에 아히야의 아들 바아사가 디르사에서 온 이스라엘의 왕이 되어 이십사 년을 치리하니라 In the third year of Asa king of Judah, Baasha son of Ahijah became king of all Israel in Tirzah, and he reigned twenty-four years. 34바아사가 여호와 보시기에 악을 행하되 여로보암의 길로 행하며 그가 이스라엘로 범하게 한 그 죄 중에 행하였더라 He did evil in the eyes of the LORD, walking in the ways of Jeroboam and in his sin, which he had caused Israel to commit. ......................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... 1여호와의 말씀이 하나니의 아들 예후에게 임하여 바아사를 꾸짖어 가라사대 Then the word of the LORD came to Jehu son of Hanani against Baasha: 2내가 너를 진토에서 들어 나의 백성 이스라엘 위에 주권자가 되게 하였거늘 네가 여로보암의 길로 행하며 내 백성 이스라엘로 범죄케 하여 저희 죄로 나의 노를 격동하였은즉 "I lifted you up from the dust and made you leader of my people Israel, but you walked in the ways of Jeroboam and caused my people Israel to sin and to provoke me to anger by their sins. 3내가 너 바아사와 네 집을 쓸어버려 네 집으로 느밧의 아들 여로보암의 집 같이 되게 하리니 So I am about to consume Baasha and his house, and I will make your house like that of Jeroboam son of Nebat. 4바아사에게 속한 자가 성읍에서 죽은즉 개가 먹고 들에서 죽은즉 공중의 새가 먹으리라 하셨더라 Dogs will eat those belonging to Baasha who die in the city, and the birds of the air will feed on those who die in the country."

6 내가 무엇을 가지고 여호와 앞에 나아가며 높으신 하나님께 경배할까? 내가 번제물 일 년 된 송아지를 가지고 그 앞에 나아갈까 With what shall I come before the LORD and bow down before the exalted God? Shall I come before him with burnt offerings, with calves a year old? 7 여호와께서 천천의 수양이나 만만의 강수 같은 기름을 기뻐하실까 내 허물을 위하여 내 맏아들을, 내 영혼의 죄를 인하여 내 몸의 열매를 드릴까 Will the LORD be pleased with thousands of rams, with ten thousand rivers of oil? Shall I offer my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul? 8 사람아 주께서 선한 것이 무엇임을 네게 보이셨나니 여호와께서 네게 구하시는 것이 오직 공의를 행하며 인자를 사랑하며 겸손히 네 하나님과 함께 행하는 것이 아니냐 He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.

35 여리고에 가까이 오실 때에 한 소경이 길 가에 앉아 구걸하다가 As Jesus approached Jericho, a blind man was sitting by the roadside begging. 36 무리의 지남을 듣고 이 무슨 일이냐고 물은대 When he heard the crowd going by, he asked what was happening. 37 저희가 나사렛 예수께서 지나신다 하니 They told him, "Jesus of Nazareth is passing by." 38 소경이 외쳐 가로되 다윗의 자손 예수여 나를 불쌍히 여기소서 하거늘 He called out, "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!" 39앞서 가는 자들이 저를 꾸짖어 잠잠하라 하되 저가 더욱 심히 소리 질러 다윗의 자손이여 나를 불쌍히 여기소서 하는지라 Those who led the way rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, "Son of David, have mercy on me!" 40 예수께서 머물러 서서 명하여 데려오라 하셨더니 저가 가까이 오매 물어 가라사대 Jesus stopped and ordered the man to be brought to him. When he came near, Jesus asked him, 41 네게 무엇을 하여 주기를 원하느냐 가로되 주여 보기를 원하나이다 "What do you want me to do for you?" "Lord, I want to see," he replied. 42 예수께서 저에게 이르시되 보아라 네 믿음이 너를 구원하였느니라 하시매 Jesus said to him, "Receive your sight; your faith has healed you." 43 곧 보게 되어 하나님께 영광을 돌리며 예수를 좇으니 백성이 다 이를 보고 하나님을 찬양하니라 Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus, praising God. When all the people saw it, they also praised God.

1 아들들아 아비의 훈계를 들으며 명철을 얻기에 주의하라 Listen, my sons, to a father's instruction; pay attention and gain understanding. 2 내가 선한 도리를 너희에게 전하노니 내 법을 떠나지 말라 I give you sound learning, so do not forsake my teaching. 3 나도 내 아버지에게 아들이었었으며 내 어머니 보기에 유약한 외아들이었었노라 When I was a boy in my father's house, still tender, and an only child of my mother, 4 아버지가 내게 가르쳐 이르기를 내 말을 네 마음에 두라 내 명령을 지키라 그리하면 살리라 he taught me and said, "Lay hold of my words with all your heart; keep my commands and you will live. 5 지혜를 얻으며 명철을 얻으라 내 입의 말을 잊지 말며 어기지 말라 Get wisdom, get understanding; do not forget my words or swerve from them. 6 지혜를 버리지 말라 그가 너를 보호하리라 그를 사랑하라 그가 너를 지키리라 Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you; love her, and she will watch over you. 7 지혜가 제일이니 지혜를 얻으라 무릇 너의 얻은 것을 가져 명철을 얻을지니라 Wisdom is supreme; therefore get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding. 8 그를 높이라 그리하면 그가 너를 높이 들리라 만일 그를 품으면 그가 너를 영화롭게 하리라 Esteem her, and she will exalt you; embrace her, and she will honor you.
